The Windows Certified Products List is a comprehensive list of certified devices and systems. The Windows Certified Products list has the following features and restrictions:
- You can find devices and systems by filtering the list or by running a search for a specific product name.
- You can search across all certified devices and systems for the entire catalog.
- If you need an OEM system report for RFPs, you can search for the product/marketing name and receive a verification report, which you can download.
- The Certified Products List displays Declarative & Universal status for all Device Classes.
Important
System search does not support the D & U status field. Therefore, you must set the D & U Status search field dropdown to All to see system results.
Searching for Marketing and Product names for systems or devices
If you search using the Marketing/Product Name box, the Certified Products List returns matches in the product name, submission name, and marketing name fields. Consider these:
- Limit your search to plain text, without quotes or wildcards.
- Any spaces between words are treated as AND expressions.
- Do not use any special characters or search-limiting terms. For example, do not use (OR, AND, ””, *, ?, etc.).
Searching for a Company Name
Limit your searches to plain text, without quotes or wildcards. For example, do not use (OR, AND, ””, *, ?, etc.).
The search function will auto-complete results after you type five letters.
Note
You may find that some companies are listed twice. This is a result of merging the previous database with Hardware Dev Center. Each entry is different, so it’s best to search using the Marketing/Product Name field.

Plenty of good self-taught programmers and network administrators are out there, but today businesses often want to see credentials that indicate computer consultants have correct, current knowledge. Microsoft wants people who use its technology to do so correctly and competently, so the company created a series of certifications for people who demonstrate full mastery of the latest software, hardware and networks. Completing an initial Microsoft certification path, such as the older or newer MCSA, can open the door to higher levels of certifications.
Systems Administrator
Until December 31, 2011, people interested in demonstrating a higher threshold of skills with Windows network management were encouraged to attain the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator certification, which showed proficiency with Windows 2000 servers plus earlier systems. In 2012, that certification was no longer offered for Windows 2000. Windows 2003 certification support will be discontinued as of July 2013, and both certifications will show up as “legacy” or “retired” on a Microsoft transcript.
New Version
The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator certification was replaced in 2012 with a different MCSA – the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification. According to Microsoft’s Learning area, the new MCSA covers general knowledge of creating solutions for your choice of Windows Server 2012, Server 2008 or SQL Server 2012. The 2000 and 2003 versions of the MCSA focused more on specific workplace job responsibilities.
MCSA Value
With an MCSA certification, you can continue on to other mastery programs. If you chose the 2008 certification, you can begin training for the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert Private Cloud certification. The Windows 2012 certification qualifies you to begin training for MCSE Server Infrastructure and MCSE Desktop Infrastructure certifications.
Preparing
Microsoft encourages certification seekers to study the material ahead of time, using practice tests, training programs, either self-taught or certified preparation courses with an instructor, Microsoft Press books or other online resources. Specific suggestions and links are available in the Microsoft Learning area.
Taking Exams
You can register and take the test online or at testing centers around the world. Prometric, a testing website, offers a list of approved Microsoft testing centers. Exams cost $100 to $150 depending on region and the type of test.
Results or Retakes
It can take up to 30 days for you to receive word whether you passed or failed the Knowledge Exam. Then you must wait 14 days to schedule the Lab Exam, which demonstrates your abilities. These results take up to 30 days as well. If you fail the test, Microsoft requires you wait at least 90 days before retaking it but has no limit on the number of times an exam can be retaken. Test-takers register and pay the exam fee each time.
