Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver Findfile Failed Deep Sleep Mode

Hi, I have a problem where the realtek ethernet controller drivers are not installing on my pc. I have just reinstalled windows and all the drivers are gone( I was aware of this before doing it.)
I cannot connect to the Internet.
I have went into my bios, I have turned my pc off for long periods of time, unplugged etc. I have checked in device manager and do not have any network adapters. The devices with the exclamation mark are:
CDC serial
Ethernet controller
PCI simple communications controller
I have a Packard Bell OEM motherboard and cannot find the drivers from Packard bell's website.
I have installed the driver months ago but after reinstalling windows again it has an error.
Please help.

Made this about 2 months ago for some gaming with friends. The build-in network on my motherboard (Realtek) does not work. Here's what happened:

The realtek network controller was not found - Deep sleep mode Skippyrat Apr 9, 2015, 4:25 AM Hi, I have a problem where the realtek ethernet controller drivers are not installing on my pc. I have tried installing what 'seemed' to be the correct driver only for the install to halt with a message 'Realtek Network Controller was not found'. If deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug the cable. Whatever that means! But I'm not even sure I had the right driver, just what HP told me I needed. If Deep Sleep Mode is Engaged Please Plug the cable. When I had everything plugged back in and turned on, I tried installing the drivers again. Message saying 'Realtek 8136 8168 8169 Ethernet driver FindFile Failed'.

  1. About a week and a half ago the network did not work. I did a simple reboot, and then it worked again. This happened a couple of times and I grew concerned but so far rebooting was fixing it so I made a mental note of it.

  2. Rebooting no longer fixed it so I started troubleshooting. Ran the network troubleshooter and it told me there was no network controller installed. Checking the device manager my network controller was marked as hidden, and I had to tick 'view hidden devices' in the device manager to make it show up. Reinstalled the drivers, this time from Gigabyte's website (official realtek drivers). The realtek install wizard came up with the following message 'The realtek Network Controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug the cable.' Googling it people told me the solution was to first update any drivers, which I did. Then to remove the battery and RAM for a minute and then reinstert them. This fixed the problem. Then I had to turn off power management in the device settings to prevent deep sleep, but my network controller does not have a power management tab in device management, which means (according to some people on internet) that it doesn't have that feature anyway.

  3. Next day the network controller was down again. If I booted up without the cable inserted, and then inserted it after boot up, it did work.

  4. Next day, the above fix didn't work either. I used windows recovery to reset my entire pc to default, which did not fix it either. I did a CMOS reset with the little jumper, which fixed it.

  5. Today, the network is down and CMOS resetting doesn't work either. I'm not at a loss at what to do

Do you think my controller is dead?

Some additional information:

  • The lights on the port on the back do not light up at all, with cable inserted.

  • Cable is fine tested it on my iMac and used two different cables

  • I used both Windows supplied drivers for network as well as those supplied by GigaByte (realtek drivers)

  • When installing using realtek driver installer it says: driver version unkown. The installation then proceeds without hiccups (except for the error at the end about the deep sleep mode)

  • I have not updated my BIOS, although the gigabyte website warns that this is potentially dangerous. I'd like to try that to maybe fix the issue, but if it fails does that void my warranty?

  • The system POSTS with a single beep
